Es soll Anregungen für neue Forschungsmöglichkeiten und Kooperationen geben.

Sharing “Kitchen – Cooking – Competence” approach with Cooking Courses in Higher Education at the World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research, April 5th to 7th 2017. Resonances on recent sustainability symposium at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Uwe Neumann, project manager of CookUOS, participated the World Symposium of Sustainability Science and Research focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals at Manchester Metropolitan University, organised by the Inter-Universities Sustainable Development Research partnership (IUSDRP).
In summer 2016, an abstract about our approach at University of Osnabrueck to foster Education for Sustainable Development in Higher Education by the means and method of an interdisciplinary cooking course was submitted. Finally, a paper and a corresponding poster, after peer-review, were accepted to be presented at the conference, and to become a chapter in an edition of Springer’s “World Sustainability Series” which will be available in summer 2017.
During an oral presentation within a workshop and the poster sessions the project with its objectives, results and further perspectives was discussed and introduced to a wide audience. Opportunities to connect to other participants’ projects or to engage also stakeholders to adopt the method.
The project itself was perceived as a holistic approach to empower students, professionals, stakeholders and society to achieve a transformational chance apart from an anthropocentric towards a society centric perspective.
World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research
In order to illustrate how Sustainability Science can help to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the many targets of the document „Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development“, the „World Symposium on Sustainability Science: Implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals“ is being jointly organised by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), in cooperation with various UN bodies, government offices and authorities, universities, enterprises, NGOs and grassroots organisations from across the world.
The United Nations Summit, held on 25 to 27 September 2015 in New York, adopted the post-2015 development agenda and a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are outlined in the document „Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development“. This Agenda, according to the UN, is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity, which seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. It contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets, which demonstrate both a vision and an ambition. It seeks to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what these did not achieve. The document „Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development“ also clearly show the need for an integrated handling of the three main dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.
